We do live in a great country! Some of you have fought to make this country the beacon of freedom that it is. I know that I speak for the masses when I say, “Thank you!” I know this church appreciates the freedom that we have. We asked the question this last week, “Do you appreciate your freedom?” The answer was an astounding “YES!” To those who sacrificed—Thank you for our freedom! Thank you for giving up years of freedom so that we could enjoy a taste of it each and every day.
We went on to ask, “Do you appreciate your freedom that you have in Christ?” We didn’t get a chance to answer this one out loud, but it’s clear, we do appreciate what Christ has done for us. An appreciation, however, is just a feeling. The call to action is the challenge.
Consider today the words of the Apostle Paul: “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.” (1st Corinthians 9:15)
Paul was free! The law (religion), with its inability to kill our desires, was destroyed when Christ fulfilled the requirements of the law. The desires of the flesh, a ruthless internal slave driver dies with the continuing and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. Because of Christ, Paul was Free! However, because he loved his master (Lord Jesus), he resold himself into slavery. God’s work became his work and his work was to bring that which was lost back to the only one who can pardon—The Lamb of God.
May you truly appreciate your freedom in this country! May you truly appreciate your freedom in Christ! Though some of you were not able to serve as a bondsman for our country so that others could enjoy…you do have the opportunity to serve as a servant of Christ. His work should become your work and His work is to bring that which was lost back to the only one who can offer true freedom—The Lion of Judah!
God Bless,
Pastor Mike
